If you’re looking for something to celebrate…I think you can’t beat this one for fashion, drink and nibbles.
The Eastern Standard, is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition tonight. If you don’t have a sitter or the energy to go out, just take out some cheese from the fridge, a box of crackers and some nuts from the pantry and make some vintage cocktails for friends and family (of age).
This one sounds good to me supposedly it is a prohibition era drink. Remember all the warnings about raw eggs, but enjoy with your own judgment. We have this bookand here is one recipe from there:
Dubonnet Cocktail
1/2 oz Dubonnet
1 1/2 oz Gin
Twist of lemon peel
Place two or three ice cubes in a glass, add Dubonnet and gin and mix. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a twist of lemon peel.
If you want to include the kids and talk about Prohibition and alcohol then here are some ideas foralcohol-free cocktails. If your children are too young or it’s not something you want to discuss with them yet, then open up the bar after bedtime.
Bottom’s up. ttyl your BFF (Boston Family Foodie)
