Weekly Bump: Food for Free, Food for Good and Good Food

Let’s just dive right in.

Saturday, January 24th and
Sunday, January 25th

Super Hunger Brunch

I have to admit that before having children, this was an event I never missed.  What’s better than giving 100% of your meal toward fighting hunger.  It’s a great excuse to visit a restaurant that might usually feel beyond your price range because it’s all for such a good cause.  The Super Hunger Brunch raises money for the Greater Boston Food Bank.  To see a list of all the participating restaurants please visit the site and make your reservations.  (p.s. Don’t forget to tip your wait staff well, many if not all, are donating their time this weekend.)

Sunday, January 25th
City Feast: Dining out to conquer Diabetes

Several North End,  restaurants have teamed up to help fight diabetes.  This event will benefit the Joslin Diabetes High Hopes Fund.

The participating restaurants are:  Antico Forno, Lucca, Prezza, Taranta, Terramia, and Tresca.  Tickets are $150 ($100 dollars are tax deductible) and for this you get to support a good cause and enjoy a five-course meal with wine pairings.  To reserve a seat for this event, contact Michelle Colettaat (617) 264-2777

Thursday, February 5th
Food for Free: Support it and get it

Didriks and T. W. Food are teaming up for a great cause.  For the month of February, Didriks will be giving 5% of all their in store and online sales to Food for Free.  Didriks is a great little store on Concord Ave. with all of the best home wares from what you sit and stand on to what you eat off of.  I love this store for inspiration and the perfect wedding or housewarming gift.  The Didriks “guys” are always really nice and willing to help with any questions whether it takes 10 minutes or a week of calls and research.

Chef Tim Weichmann, of T.W. Food will be serving food for free, in the form of hors d’œuvres,  in honour of this month of support for Food for Free, a fabulous local organization that grows and “rescues” fresh food and serves it to those in need through the emergency food system.  This “kick-off” event will be from 5:00 – 8:00, but stop in at Didriks either online or in person any time in February to support Food for Free.

NB
Just a reminder about the peanut butter and paste recall:  taste with caution.

Bon appetit. ttyl your BFF (Boston Family Foodie)
