I have no words of my own because I need time to process information like this. I take things very deeply to heart so to get through just about anything I block it out and just look at little pieces at a time. What helps me is to read the thoughts of others. I never watch the news (any day) and I don’t like to see photos either. Here are some words that others have written that I have found helpful.
The New Yorker – Newtown and The Madness of Guns
The New York Times – Do We Have the Courage to Stop This?
The Anarchist Soccer Mom – Thinking the Unthinkable
Mr. Rogers – On making children feel safe.
I do think we need to reboot in some ways. Don’t jump to conclusions. Don’t believe everything you read. Don’t take comfort in just filling out a form online to be heard. Don’t take the easy way out. We all have some power and together or separately, small or large, time intensive or not it can be put to good use.
If you know of actions that we can take to make a difference, please share them in the comment section.
