A – is for Autumn one of the most beautiful times of year to live here. Take a walk along the Charles River or through Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
B – is for the Boston Book Festival. All things authors and books at Copley in downtown Boston.
C – is for crew, and Cambridge, and the Charles River. The Head of the Charles Regatta is here! A great, classic New England, world-renowned event.
D – is for Duck Tours which travel the streets of Boston and then dip into the Charles for some spectacular city views for those if us who can’t row or are too busy rowing to enjoy the view. Today, Friday, Santander (formerly Sovereign Bank) took over the Boston fleet and offered free rides on a first come, first serve basis.
E – is for everyone. There is something for everyone this weekend. Click on the websites for either the book festival or the regatta and check out their FAQ or schedule of events section.
F – There will be food. Food Trucks such as Roxy’s Grilled Cheese will be at the Boston Book Festival. Luke ‘s Lobster will be around at the Head of the Charles as will many more. From free samples to favorite food trucks you will not go hungry.
G – is the golden hue of the leaves. Whether you are rushing from soccer to ballet to piano or just having a quiet day at home., don’t forget to look up.
H – is for Halloween. Decorations are popping up all over. Take a stroll or a bike ride through the neighbourhood and see what spooky looks like.
I – is for ice hockey. My alma mater, McGill is in town to take the ice against the Harvard Crimson. Go Martlets!
J – is for just be. Sometimes the point if the weekend is to stop and just be. Stretch an hour out. Leave a dirty dish. Step over a dust bunny.
K – is for Kid ‘s Keynote at the Boston Book Festival. Tomie diPaolo is this year ‘s keynote.
L – is for Lexington. One of my favourite towns to drive through or bike ride to up the minuteman bike path. They have beautiful fall colours on all the trees.
M – is for the Minuteman bike path that makes for a beautiful ride this time if year.
N – is for nothing. On the weekend you must contemplate doing nothing at least for part of the time. Whether you take on the challenge of nothing or just contemplate it, contemplation is the least you can do.
O- is for oysters and the fabulous festival celebrating them. This weekend is the Wellfleet OysterFest.
P – is for pancakes at IHOP this month. There are pumpkin pancakes and scary face pancakes. In fact, on Halloween they’ll treat children 12 and under to a free scary face pancake.
