Will Change for Fashion: Baby Steps

Some people are motivated to change for better health (a totally worthy cause- I get that). Others make a change for the noble cause of being able to run around and play with their children at the playground (another great reason).  I love playing games with my children, but I’m of the philosophy that my job as parent is to ignore my children at the playground so they can run around and play with other children or in their own world and I do that job quite well.  I do that so well in fact that even though I do keep a watchful eye on my children most of the time, there was that one moment when I was working on my iPhone and another mom had to stop my daredevil child from riding a playground wheelie vehicle down a steep precipice of a hill straight into the fence.  I’m getting side-tracked here.  What I’m trying to say is that yes I think about getting healthier and slimming down not only to ensure that I am around for a long time for my children, and to be a good role model for the kids as well, but that is not my real motivation.  My real motivation is fashion.  I hate being limited to certain clothes.  I want to wear what I want to wear and let’s face it, when I was a size 6 (which is now called a size 4 since they added 0) I had a lot more options than I do now.

Not only does it fit, but I made it myself. Until you try it, you can't quite understand what wearing something you made feels like.

I’m slowly changing my habits because that’s what works for me.  In the meantime, I need clothes to wear so I periodically update my wardrobe and am lucky enough that Virginia, over at Gather Here, will let me make a few clothes for myself, but adjusting patterns for me, so I can still feel pretty fab every once in a while.  I also get a lot of inspiration from Hems for Her.  She is beautiful and awesome. It’s not totally hopeless either, I have a few fashion finds here and there.
