Weekends in Town: Village Fairs, Town Days , and City Festivals

This weekend is for the home bodies, the townies, and the locals.  Just about every other town in suburban Boston is having a town day this weekend.

Nonantum is having their Village Day it will be Sunday, June 1st from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Coletti-Magni Park.

Belmont is having their Town Day on Saturday, May 31st from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Leonard St.

Assembly Row in Somerville is having a whole season of grand openings and this weekend is the Grande Opening Season Celebration. Saturday starts of with a free yoga class overlooking the Mystic River in Baxter Riverfront Park.  Instructors from O2 Yoga Studio will lead the class starting at 9 a.m. BYOYM (Bring Your Own Yoga Mat).  At Noon on Saturday, pack a picnic or grab lunch to go from one of the local restaurants (Dive Burger Bar and Papagayo Mexican Kitchen are open now)  In the fall, Fuji, Earl’s Kitchen, Ernesto’s Pizza and PAUL Bakery will open here.  Riverfront Park will have activities from 11:00 to 4:00 on Saturday including face painting, balloon sculpting, magic shows, games and more.  Stay in the afternoon and enjoy a free concert in the amphitheatre at 6 p.m. On both Saturday and Sunday Fashion flashes with local Boston Stylista Sarah McManus will take place at the top of every hour until 3:30 at The Point. On Sunday is East Somerville, from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. is Carnaval@SomerStreets.  With food, music, culture, dance, arts and crafts from around the world, and a parade this will be one big street party.

Over in Chestnut Hill, The Street is having a party of their own at Splendid.  We are a Splendid family.  The style and fabrics are a favorite of all of ours.  Well except Dan/Dad we haven’t converted him yet.  In any case, the whole family can stop by this weekend for a little fun, sugar and sunshine.  In addition to a sweet treats from   Sweet Indulgence there will be candy activities (not sure what that means yet) and 20% off your entire purchase. All this on Saturday, May 31st from 2:30 to 4:30.

Meanwhile, in Boston Community Boating is the place to be tomorrow.  On Saturday, May 31st Community Boating Inc. Boston, MA will be hosting their Spring Open House for prospective and new members on  from 10am until 3pm. The Open House includes FREE Orientations offered on the hour, every hour, from 10am to 3pm. Discounted membership rates will be available, and new members are invited for an introductory skippered sailboat ride on the Charles. Last, but certainly not least, a cookout will be provided on the dock, with beverages donated by Polar Seltzer, coffee from Starbucks, and pastries from Panificio Boston. All are welcome!
