Weekend Guide: September 26th – September 28th

This weekend is packed with activities.  From the Let’s Talk About Food to the celebration of all things Irish at iFest. And don’t forget Somerville’s famous Fluff Festival. Here are a few sugggestions to keep you busy this weekend.

It’s a beautiful day for the beach.  The weather this weekend is perfect for a visit to the shore.  On Sunday, Orleans has their annual ClamBQ.

You can travel the world this weekend.  Head to Ireland with iFest a festival at the Seaport World Trade Center. Get a feel for what the Ireland of today has to offer with food and drink, entertainment, dance, music, and Irish tourism. Tap into old Ireland with an exploration of Irish roots and an introduction to Irish sporting heritage. Or, head to Scandinavia with the Fika Sound Series at the Scandinavian Cultural Center.  There will be sweet treats from Crown Bakery,  waffles and open-faced sandwiches.  Then head over to the Nordic Hall to hear Stämbandet sing.  Visit Greece, with Greek Festival Boston with food, music, dancing and childens’ activities.

The great glass pumpkins of MIT will be out again this year.  Stop by the Great Glass Pumpkin Patch starting tonight from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and continuing Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Over 2000 pumpkins will be in the patch and are available to purchase at the Kresge Oval on the MIT campus.

Saturday is the Smithsonian’s Magazine, Museum Live! event.  Reserve your tickets online here and gain access for two to museums all over the country.  In Massachusetts you can get into everything from the Museum of Russian Icons in Clinton, MA to the Fruitland Museum in Harvard, MA (perfect post apple picking visit) or Harvard’s Museum of Natural History among many others.

The weekend is always better with brunch. Here are a few things you might want to dig your teeth into this weekend.
