Today is usually what I call “my weekend”. It’s the day that my home office transitions back from being grand central station to just being my home (with the usual home chores) and my office (with my list of assignments and projects). I work on Mondays, but it feels like a bit of a weekly vacation because instead of 30 things going at once around me (and let’s cube that for last weekend because of Thanksgiving) I only have about 10.

Today’s tasks involved taking my sick daughter to Target to find something for her cough (We’re trying Zarbee’s honey drink for tonight since I can’t very will give her this Bourbon throat soother).
I’m mixing up cookie dough for The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap. I already got some delectable cookies all the way from California from Donna over at Dang That’s Delicious .
I’m checking email and trying not to get too distracted by the CyberMonday sales. I am shopping locally for all our holiday gifts. On the other hand, some of the sales I can’t resist. I’ve popped over to Splendid and Ella Moss (two of the kids’ and my favourite clothing companies #comfy #soft #stylish). Ella Moss has some great party dresses too!
In between mixing, and working, and feeding my daughter some chicken noodle soup, I’m texting my husband back and forth because this is the perfect day for us to finally get a real bed. Our kids are old enough now that for the most part our bedroom is our own, but our room looks like the land of mismatched furniture. We have an unfinished not much better than wooden palettes bed, random old furniture from nurseries and playroom as bedside tables, and instead of a sanctuary our room is nothing more than an afterthought…or rather just an after because there’s not a moment of thought that’s gone into it. Over on Birch Lane they have 40% off one item and I’m not going to let that one pass me by.

I’ve had one coffee today, but I think to get through the rest of it, which includes finishing a post on cocktails (and I’d like to drink the finished product later), homework duty, and more household chores you can see why a second cup is in order. Or maybe I need a little chocolate. Decisions, decisions..
Oh and if you need linens, this is a great time of year to pick up some great ones. I think the best patterns come out for fall / winter. I recently stopped in at Jonathan Adler to pick up a new set of sheets (on sale!) over at The Street, Chestnut Hill. Then, when I was asked to do a blogger pick over on Wayfair, where I’m one of the Wayfair homemakers, I was so excited to see they had the matching duvet! Scroll down to the duvet labeled “blogger’s pick” and you’ll see why I love these linens from Jonathan Adler.
