World Ballet Day Live started in 2015 and it has been a great way for ballet companies and ballet dancers in training around the world to connect. Catch some of World Ballet Day Live this year today, October 4th! As someone who found a lot of joy in dancing since I was a little kid and…
Category: Arts & Entertainment
The Arts keep us going. They are a reflection of life as it was, life as it is, life as it will be and life as we wish it to be (or as we fear it to be). It is important to support the arts and to take in the arts. It is good for the soul.
Welcome to The Weekend: Boston September 30-October 2nd
The weekend is here and so is fall in full force. Hopefully you spent the end of your week well caffeinated with National Coffee Day. Now here are some options for the weekend. Friday, September 30th 9/30 5-9 p.m. (Watertown) Arts & Drafts at the Arsenal Center Arts and Drafts is an evening of live…
Return of the Weekend Guide: September 16-18th
Our long-lost friend, the Weekend Guide, is back! We live in a region that is full of options and opportunities and making a curated list of things to do each weekend is one of my favourite things to do for my readers. What I get in return is a feeling of satisfaction and joy when…
Back to Life/Back to Reality: Xfinity
School has begun for just about everyone and soon the fall sports and activities will begin to fill all our calendars. We’re still refreshed from summer, but as everything starts back up again efficiency is key. In the summer, we’re too busy playing outside to spend much time in front of a screen, and with…
Assembling in Somerville: A Destination for All
Somerville is my neighbour and parts of Somerville are very close by. Davis Square is just on the other side of Massachusetts Avenue and yet other parts seem a world away. It wasn’t until Assembly Row opened, that I realised how quickly you can get there from here. In fact, for my most recent visit,…
Family Weekend Rain or Shine
There is nothing like a perfect summer beach day. We’ve had quite a few this week, but then we have also had a few cold and grey days sprinkled in as well. Some summer schedules are very flexible but others between camp and work schedules require going with the flow a bit more. At Assembly…
Date Night or Family Night Out: Assembly Row at Night
For Date Night at Assembly Row, there are so many options and I’m not just talking about restaurant choices. You might want dinner and a movie, in which case you can reserve your seats and tickets online to see a movie at the AMC theatre. If you only have time for a quick bite before…
Tots on the Town: Assembly Row Outing
Shopping with tots, spending a day entertaining tykes, or just trying to keep them cool on a hot summer day isn’t always easy. A day at Assembly Row is something you can do on a regular basis with your little one and neither of you will be bored. You can splurge for a day at…
Opening the Cabinet of Kurios: Cirque du Soleil
There is circus and then there is Cirque du Soleil. It is the Karma Coffee to your Dunkin Donuts. It is the EHChocolatier to your Hershey’s. It is the cheese from Formaggio Kitchen to your Kraft single. It is all that with one slight difference. Many people like their Dunkin, their Hershey’s kisses, and there…
Le Petit Prince: National Ballet of Canada
Le Petit Prince is a story that resonates with both children and adults on different levels. It is like a fairy tale where the moral is woven so tightly into the story that when presented as a live performance like this you seem to absorb it through all your senses rather than just ruminate about it with your mind. Even though I have never crashed in a desert, or been betrayed by a snake, somehow the dancing, the music, the set and costumes all make you understand the message. It really reminds me of the complexity that animation allows but in live performance form.
Ivivva Summer Fest: You’re Invited
We love ivivva. I have been a fan of the Lululemon company since day one because they’re a Canadian company and I liked what they stood for. Not too long ago Lululemon introduced ivivva. I was a bit skeptical because, when it comes to teens and tweens, quality clothing with appropriate designs are few and…
Taking Your Children to The Theatre: Boston
The big shows are popular. There are the Disney on ice shows, there is Broadway in Boston, and then there is the Circus of course. Taking little children to see a show can be a big ordeal and a big expense, but there are ways to work around it and make going to the theatre…
