When I was head of the Parents Association I made this coffee cake on a Google assisted whim because we had buttermilk to use up.
It was a huge hit and even the kids had a taste at the next class potluck because I made it again. Since then, it has been our go to school breakfast potluck dish. This week is Valentine’s Day and my son’s publishing party and again Café Beaujolais coffee cake was his request.
Since our old school was nut free and my kids don’t really eat nuts I substitute flax meal for the sliced almonds. Sometimes I’ll substitute 1/4 of the flour as whole wheat flour.
It is a quick one bowl recipe that you can find here in the LA Times: http://touch.latimes.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-51144136/
