Serendipity is waking up to the sound of an alarm clock except you did not set an alarm. Mother and daughter got back late from the ballet. Husband texted that he was going to swim early in the morning.

At 7:15 the construction trucks outside back up and sound like an alarm. I stumble into my jeans and from the shock and adrenaline of the late hour and sudden alarming morning alertness, look at the clock again.

We leave for school at 7:30. Not sure what will happen. Will I bring lunches to school late? Can I pull this off? I pop my head in to see if daughter is awake. She is.

I grab a top and some socks then head downstairs to make lunches calling to kids for help. Son comes out and tells me he has had breakfast and helps figure out his sisters breakfast. I pull together lunches and snacks, we throw a Montreal bagel into the toaster oven for his sister.

My husband has left filled water bottles on the counter. We pack bags. I sign up and fill out forms for Teacher appreciation luncheon. I grab the Ikea stuff I will return this morning and we leave for school. Wake up 7:15. Out the door 7:37. Serendipity is a truck backing up or I might still be asleep.
